Newark and Sherwood Homes have access to staff with 'signing' skills for customers with hearing difficulties and operate a minicom service on 01636 655960.
Telephone Interpreting
Do you wish to speak to us in a language other than English?
We are able to set up a conversation with you, either in person, or on the telephone, using the services of an Interpreter. If you require this service please call, or visit, the relevant department and ask for our translation service, stating the language that you require.
Document Translation
Do you require a document in a language other than English?
We are able to translate documents into languages other than English. If you need a document translating in this way then please request the document from the relevant department, stating the language required.

Audio Tape
Written documents can be recorded onto tape/CD through a partnership that we have with the Magnus School, Newark, this service normally takes a day to complete.
Royal National Institute for Deaf People (RNID) TYPETALK BT
BT offers a Typetalk service that allows callers who are deaf to communicate with Newark and Sherwood Homes via an operator by text. We are able to both receive and make calls using this service. Please visit http://www.typetalk.org/ for more information.
Braille
We are able to translate documents into Braille, this service takes approximately one day.
Minicom / Portable Loop
Portable loops are available in our large meeting rooms at Kelham Hall: The Carriage Court and The Dome. The Council are however, looking into improving this service for the rest of the building.

British Sign Language (BSL)
This service is available at Kelham Hall. A member of staff is trained to translate conversation and documents.
